Guimarães is one of the most important historical cities of the country, and its historic center is considered World Heritage , making it definitely one of the largest tourist places in the region. Its streets and monuments breathe history and delight those who visit them.
Throughout the years, Guimarães was able to reconcile, in the best possible way, the history and maintenance of the heritage with the dynamism and entrepreneurship that characterize modern cities, attested by the nomination for European Capital of Culture in 2012, factors that led Guimarães to be elected by New York Times as one of the 41 places to visit in 2011 and to consider it one of the emerging cultural points of the Iberian Peninsula. It was also the European City of Sports in 2013.
Guimarães is often referred to as the "Cradle City" because of the fact that the administrative center of the Portucalense County was established there by D. Henrique, also by his son D. Afonso Henriques being possibly born in this city and fundamentally because of the historical importance that the Battle of São Mamede, which took on the outskirts of the city on June 24, 1128, had for the formation of nationality. However, the needs of the Reconquest and the protection of southern territories led this same center to move to Coimbra in 1129.
Multiusos of Guimarães is one of the biggest halls in Portugal. It is a multi-purpose venue which hosted several kinds of events, related to Motocross, Tennis, Music, Expositions, Conferences and much more! It will be the stage for a Table Tennis event for the first time.
There is a total area of 12.270 sqm that provides all the conditions to have an event of this magnitude. The competition will be played in 24 tables and there will be around 1000 seats for spectators.
